What’s new

So, the upgrade has finished and although I still have a few pages to transfer across, I am happy with the site, which is now running on [tag]Wordpress Mu[/tag].

Why the change from Wordpress to Wordpress Mu?

I didn’t want this site to have any technology (coding) based articles on it, as that is too much related to my Job, however I found myself wanting to write some technology based stuff, so I investigated and found that [tag]Wordpress[/tag] do a version that allows multiple blogs on one domain so I can write stuff specifically aimed at one area without having to put it on a different domain.

Another reason for the change was, I needed to make a [tag]photoblog[/tag], but adjusting one theme so that the images ‘pop’ means that the text articles suffer. Now I have the best of a dozen worlds. I have put the photoblog together using the domain organix.stirlyn.co.uk.

The [tag]arts reviews[/tag] also have their own domain http://reviews.stirlyn.co.uk. Coming soon will be the [tag]technology blog[/tag], however I haven’t thougth of a name for it yet so watch out for the announcements.

Due to problems with our current web hosting provider the regular blogs on this domain, stirlyn.co.uk, organix.stirlyn.co.uk, reviews.stirlyn.co.uk, techno.stirlyn.co.uk may not be currently available. This has been since 1 Dec 2007. Rest assured I am working furiously (and very angrily) to resolve the issue and will get the sites back up and running as soon as possible. If you are a sponsor who has had sites, services reviewed by me in the past, the posts...
  • Man with a gun in a supermarket
I've been broadening my horizons and since the sun is out today, and my body clock has become accustomed to waking up at very ungodly hours of the morning, even on the weekend, my thoughts have sauntered around to thinking about [tag]documentary photography[/tag]. Checking out some sites via [tag]Technorati[/tag], I came across this [tag]photoblog[/tag] from Steve Luncker. The image that I find really interesting is the one of the man in the supermarket with the...
  • Get Twittering
So today I discover what all the [tag]Twitter[/tag] fuss was about and was immediately taken by the possible implementations of this clever litte site that does one thing, and does it well. I allows you to tell the world what you're doing right now in 140 characters. Simple concept, a magnitude of possibilities. Why? Because it allows you to send messages via [tag]Instant Messaging[/tag] (IM), [tag]SMS[/tag] or from your blog. It will also work vice-versa...
  • Arts Student Final Show
Last night I took a work friend of mine from India to the Student final show at Byam Shore, which is a college of the University of the Arts London. This image was taken there and shows some of the highly creative work that was on display by this year's graduating class. This particular body of work was by an artist that based his work around the homeless. The images are in black and white...
  • New look for the Earth monkey site
After a few months, I have decided to change the theme of the site here at Stirlyn.co.uk. Once again I ventured to Brian Gardner's site as I saw he's brought out a new Vertigo Electrified theme that really REALLY caught my eye. I love Brian's designs, their clean and precise and aesthetically pleasing, as well as being easy to modify and customise to your own look. (Brian includes fonts and blank images so that you...
