Think differently about consumption

June 17, 2007 by Stirlyn

Chris Jordon’s current work, Running the numbers - An American Self Portrait, allows us to think quite differently about our consumption by marrying photographic work with statistics. I wish he was showing this in London, I would love to view the actual works as I believe they would be striking.

  • Photography Laws, Copyright and Trespass
Photographers need to know where we stand in relation to copyright and trespass laws. It isn't that there are specific photography laws or regulations covering photography. UK law operates more on the basis of what you are not allowed to do, rather than enshrining rights in a constitution. Truth is there is little in the way of photography restrictions enshrine in law when it comes to photography in a public place. As a rule of...
  • Conversations with A Yard Man (Pt I)
A "Yard man" is a Jamaican. Another term frequently used to describe Jamaicans is "Yardie", but that has recently been appropriated and most people think of a Yardie as a gang member so I will use the former to refer to the man with whom I stood today in conversation with for around half hour. He started the conversation with me as he saw the camera I was holding in my hands whilst waiting to...
  • Linking to relevant photography sites
There are a number of photography related websites available where one can view, buy, share and upload all types of images. Linking to these sites and getting them in turn to link to my site is going to be an important part of my search engine promotion activities in the coming months. Community sites such as Flickr, Snapfish, Yahoo Photos. The list is large and growing. Like all marketing activities - online and offline -...
