Summer’s Here!

ß

Summer is here I think. We’ve been quite lucky in London as we haven’t had overly amounts of rain the last few weeks (just a couple of days) unlike last year when the whole place seemed to be constantly under deluge. I am fortunate that since moving in April, I now overlook a lovely little park where kids play, people walk their dogs and people like me run in circles in a desperate effort to get some exercise. There’s also a bowling club so almost every day there is some kind of activity going on.

We have also got all the summer screenings and outdoor cinemas going as well (Somerset House, Barbican, City Hall) which are all great fun, when the weather holds. But the outdoor event I am most looking forward to once more this year is getting down to the Open Air Theatre down at Regents Park to see Romeo and Juliet. It’s a place I had always wanted to visit and finally managed to see “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” there last year, it was absolutely enchanting, especially as we saw it on Midsummer’s night.

This year Romeo and Juliet apparently has some salsa bits with it so I am hoping the season won’t finish before I manage to get there.

Research carried out by a UK travel related firm (I’ve still to find out which) has found that more British people are opting for a lifestyle where they work at home, but live in another country. These lifestyle worshipers opt for living in different parts of Europe or even in North Africa and a commute to work via an airplane. In an effort to improve their quality of life, see more of their family and...

If you think that [tag]youth theatre[/tag] is merely for parents hoping to see their offspring treading the boards, ready to pat them on the head and take them out for a celebratory meal after the performance, you may want to re-think that assumption, once you have seen the adaptation of [tag]Ali Smith[/tag]’s [tag]Hotel World[/tag], presented by Kidbrook School. There is some quite drastic scenery and the people there welcome you with smiles and laughter when you visit. Gran Canaria weather is hot and...
