Spread the link love
May 5, 2007 by Stirlyn
Why not do as Jonathan over at SmartWealthyRich suggests and spread the love to other bloggers who comment on your blog by downloading and installing the DoFollow plugin to your wordpress blog?
By default links posted on your blog comments section have a “rel=nofollow tag” which tells the search engine not to follow the links on the page. This means despite your efforts you won’t get a link back from the site to yours.
You can download the Dofollow plugin from here. Just upload the page to your wp-content/plugins folder and then go to Plugins in your Wordpress control panel and activate it.
Linking to other websites is of particular importance for those of us who are trying to build visibilty, and increase our rankings in the search engines. It is a good strategy, as even though you may be listed in blog engines or directories, you may notice that these sites link to your site via a re-direct, not a straight href link.
I’ve activated it on this site, so that I can spread some link love to my fellow bloggers. Whilst comments are not enabled on all pages within this site, it is on most. I would advise you to install a good spam filter, and enable comment moderation so that you don’t end up getting spammed by unscrupulous and dodgy sites.

PerPerPost (PPP), the online service that pays bloggers to add sponsored posts to their blogs has introduced a new income stream for bloggers and the people that visit your site. I have long been involved in the web business but my focus has been on building the sites, not raising the profile of these sites in the search engines. Hi there! thank you very very much for linking to my blog, it’s greatly appreciated! The dofollow plugin is, i think, a very nice way to reward people that take the time to leave comments on a blog, it’s all about the readers and participation, so it’s nice to reward people for adding to the discussions and joining in the fun
I’m checking out your blog a little more, take care!
