Panasonic Announce Wireless Digital Camera
January 8, 2008 by Stirlyn
Panasonic have announced they are to produce a wireless digital camera that will be able to upload pictures to the web via T-Mobile hotspots. The announcement was made at CES in Las Vegas.
Whilst it is not the first to announce a wireless digital camera, (Nikon, Kodak and Canon all have wireless enabled digital cameras), the collaboration with T-Mobile makes this announced camera service a bit different. The service will allow owners of the wireless digital camera to upload their pictures to Google’s Picasa photo sharing service, enabling family and friends to view, share and email pictures. The service offered by Panasonic will be free for the initial 12 months.
This will be great for photographers who do a lot of Street Photography work or for photojournalists. The growing sophistication and quality of digital cameras could bring even more immediacy to new photography with pictures being uploaded almost as soon as they are taken.
The Panasonic Lumix wireless digital camera service is a collaboration between Panasonic and T-Mobile Hotspot. At this time, it is not clear whether the service will be available in the UK.
