It’s the final few days of 2008 and we’ve all hopefully enjoyed our Christmas and are now looking forward to the new year perhaps with a little less joy than we did in 2007. Things are a little less certain financially for many people, however there are still opportunities out there if we’re willing to keep looking out for them. For me 2008 has been a really great year. It’s not that I earn lots and lots of money in 2008, or that I bought a new house, I just think this year brougt with it a myriad of opportunities to do things a little differently and achieve a much more balanced approach to life than in previous years.
This year, I tried not to focus on how much money I could earn, but how I could earn efficiently, allowing myself the opportunity to have more time to pursue activities that were not related to work, and that brought more enjoyment out of life. I think that is the key to having a good work/life balance.
I hope that you have had a good 2008, and that in looking forward to 2009 you can achieve a good balance that sees you achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself. Work hard, play harder. Make what money you have work for you as much as possible. Save something for a rainy day, but don’t deprive yourself in the meantime. I wish all of you a very prosperous, safe and enjoyable new year.
