Completed and feeling fine

ß

I have now finished my MA Photography and Urban Cultures at Goldsmiths, just awaiting the final marks.

The year was rounded off with a very successful exhibition No Right Turn, held at Underground Village in Shoreditch. This group exhibition featuring 25 finishing students was staged over 4 days and included a symposium on the penultimate day with artist talking about their work.

I was very pleased with my first exhibition, and although not 100% happy with the final work, was very happy with the responses to the work by visitors to the show.

Whilst not one of the images displayed, this is one of my favourites from the project to date. It is called Sanctuary.

It's not that I haven't been writing anything, I have a couple of posts in draft state at the moment waiting to get finished, it's just that I have been feeling a little reflective over the past two weeks. Last night I took a work friend of mine from India to the Student final show at Byam Shore, which is a college of the University of the Arts London. This image was taken there and shows some of the highly creative work that was on display by this year's graduating class. This particular body of work was by an artist that based his work around the homeless. The images are in black and white...
  • The Androgyny of Body Hair - The story of Kitty Melbourne
There exists in all of us both male and female hormones but an imbalance between them can create in females excess body hair. In many western cultures, feminity is deemed compromised if excess hair is apparent. In these images, a sample from the series "The Androgyny of Body Hair", Kitty Melbourne is one such female battling to conform. ...
  • Shopping tells us it’s Valentines Day already
A quick perusal in a card shop today, looking for a birthday card for my Auntie, let me know that the god-awful Valentines day is fast approaching. No sooner you're over spending for one holiday than another rears it's ugly head on the horizon. February 14th is to me a day that passes with no real celebration. Although most people 'bitch' about having to buy their partners Valentines day gifts, they still do it. Even...
