Not too long from now, I’ll be heading off again on another wander to somewhere where I’ve never been before, and as per usual, there’s lots of preparation to do and thinking about what I want to take with me. So far (again as per usual) I’ve done nothing, but one thing that I am thinking about quite a lot is getting some soft contact lens, (Acuvue dailies you know the type). I thought I would just this once ignore what my optometrist says about wearing rigid gas permeable rgp contact lenses due to my severe astigmatism, just because when…
Do you write for money or for fame? Does it matter, is it the same? Are you someone who writes because it’s you passion and you hope that this will one day deliver you the money? I write for money, and I earn well from it, but it’s in a language that really only computers understand. I have been known to write for money in a language that humans understand, but the amounts that I earn from that are so small I don’t even really consider it worthwhile bragging about. That’s not to say there isn’t money in it, and…
Bernie Mac passed away! Actor, but best loved as the comedian who could make you cry laughing in his stand up routines, my friends and family regularly run his routine lines ad nauseam, especially from the routines in the HBO special “Original Kings of Comedy“, which also starred Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and DL Hughley. So sad to see this one go, at age 50, Bernie Mac is survived by his wife Rhonda, his daughter and grand-daughter. He is said to have died of complications relating to pneumonia after being admitted to a Chicago hospital last week. Bernie Mac…
Summer is here I think. We’ve been quite lucky in London as we haven’t had overly amounts of rain the last few weeks (just a couple of days) unlike last year when the whole place seemed to be constantly under deluge. I am fortunate that since moving in April, I now overlook a lovely little park where kids play, people walk their dogs and people like me run in circles in a desperate effort to get some exercise. There’s also a bowling club so almost every day there is some kind of activity going on. We have also got all…
News announced today that the weight loss diet pill Acomplia (Rimonabant) is now available on prescription from the NHS. Acomplia, also known as Rimonabant, is an anti-obesity drug, said to aid dieters with weight when used in combination with exercise. It is said that people with weight issues can lose up to 10% of their body weight when taking the diet pill Acomplia. News that Acomplia is available via prescription will be good news for some, but for others it may be quite worrying and it is sure to cause controversy, as Acomplia has been linked with depression and in…
Ever been lucky enough to use a contact lens remover? Reason I ask is that periodically I look at my site stats and I see that this site sometimes comes up in searches for contact lens remover or contact lense removal so I checked back and see that I have previously written on the subject of lens removal sometime last year, so today I took a wander around the net and checked out some of these implement to see what they looked like. Imagine my shock when I saw this image??? No way, said I, that looks ghastly. I would…
Mayor Boris Johnson’s ban on booze on the London transport system brought out the protest in people last Saturday as thousands of drinkers held parties all over the underground network. Although concentrated on the Circle Line, parties were also held on the Piccadilly line and others on the tube network.
